With The Chivalrous Life, I emphasize the importance of establishing a regular “date night” with your sweetheart. That said, I like to think outside the box, get creative and share ideas that are a little left of center from the typical dinner and movie date; perhaps even bring you a review. This Valentine’s Day I was on a quest to find something different, exciting and even a bit swanky. After all, I love getting dressed up with my lady. Continue reading
I grew up with a stay at home mom and a working father. In modern times, both the man and the woman in a couple hold down jobs. Between working, parenting, household duties, social media and countless other distractions, it’s common to feel adrift and before you know it, you’re tearing off another month on the calendar. It’s so easy to be consumed by the quicksand of our jobs and life’s day-to-day obligations while being completely oblivious to it.
Fret not; there is a way to keep it in check. I like to call it “The Off the Grid Weekend”. It will require a conscious effort and planning, but then doesn’t everything worth having? Sit down with your sweetie, grab your calendar and pick a weekend. There will be some “we have to do this or go there” commentary back and forth, so you will have to prioritize. Continue reading
As an Arizona resident for just over 16 years now, I’ve come to the conclusion that the Phoenix area is an absolute culinary Mecca. There are so many fantastic restaurants out here that although my wife and I have our favorites, it seems as we are trying new restaurants regularly; rarely doubling back. We are without a doubt die hard foodies.
Being an Italian American raised on the real deal, home cooked Italian food, I don’t dine out on Italian food. I am willing to bet that same sentiment is true of Greek Americans, Spanish Americans or any ethnicity raised on their mother’s traditional home cooking. Romeo’s dishes aren’t necessarily Italian, Greek, Spanish, etc. specifically. Chef/owner Romeo Taus dubs his cuisine “Mediterranean Influenced”. Couldn’t have said it better myself Romeo! Romeo’s fare is the perfect blend of Italian, Greek and all of the essential flavors of the Continue reading
Assuming the majority of us don’t live in a beach city, this one’s for you. Living in Phoenix, when the thermometer hits triple digits, our date night options are impacted significantly. There are no more dinners enjoyed on the patio or other outdoor activities for three months. Temperatures can be as high as a sweltering 118, sometimes as much as 120. At that point, Sunday’s are spent sitting on the couch in front of the T.V.
If you’ve got a half a dozen or so dates with your partner under your belt, odds are that you are comfortable enough to spend a chunk of time together in a car for a road trip. A few years back in August, I had an idea that some may think is crazy but heck, that’s part of the charm! Over dinner on a Saturday night date with my lady, I casually told her that after dinner I’d like to call it an early night because I had a surprise for her.
Secured the first date and not sure where to go or what to do? Grimaldi’s Pizzeria not only serves unbelievable New York style pie, but also serves as a quaint and potentially romantic backdrop for comfortable and foundational conversation. With locations in nine states, the particular restaurant for this review is located in Scottsdale, Arizona. Over our very first lunch together, my now wife had mentioned that her favorite pizza was Grimaldi’s. As a former chauffer, I had been to the Grimaldi’s in Scottsdale with clients and knew that they had an exceptional patio setting. Continue reading
